Dell announces world’s brightest 27-inch USB-C ultrathin monitor, new XPS 13, Inspiron 7000, 5000, Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1s and more


At the ongoing IFA 2018 event, Dell has announced an array of product including the Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1s, 7000 2-in-1 laptops, the Vostro 14 and 15 5000 and premium 27 USB-C ultrathin displays and entry-level SE monitors.

Inspiron 7000 2-in-1

The Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 comes with a brushed aluminum exterior with a sleek design. Available in 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch sizes, it comes powered by Intel 8th Generation U Series processors, optional 4K UHD screens, and a thermal flow to move hot air out through hidden vents. Having said that, the 13-inch and 15-inch variant have 3-sided narrow border offering greater performance in low light with Temporal Noise Reduction – the first PC-integrated USB camera to use this technology3.

Furthermore, the 15-inch and 17-inch version offer an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 to boost the graphics as well as optional Intel OptaneTM Memory to increase single-drive performance. It is also Alexa-ready, where users can create lists, set reminders, play music, and more with their voice. Alexa support will be available this autumn.

Inspiron 5000 2-in-1

The Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1 houses some features of the 7000 series, including thermal routing and narrow borders. It comes in two variants — Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1, 5481 and 5482, and powered by Intel 8th Generation U Series processors.

The 5482 2-in-1 comes equipped with a USB Type-C port with power delivery and display support and an optional NVIDIA GeForce MX130 discrete graphics card as well. On the other hand, the 5481 2-in-1 includes a full-size HDMI port, a full-size SD card reader, two USB 3.1 Generation 1 ports, one USB 2.0 port for easy connectivity and the option of Windows 10 in S mode in select regions.

Dell’s first premium Chromebook

Dell has introduced Chromebook under the Inspiron lineup dubbed as Dell Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1. It comes with a 14-inch FHD IPS display and seamless integration with Google applications and ecosystem. The Chromebook has an aluminum, narrow side-bezel design giving it a sleek look. It is powered by 8th Generation Intel Core i3-8130U CPU, battery life up to 15 hours and 28GB of onboard eMMC storage.

XPS 13 updates

Dell’s flagship XPS 13 comes with the new Intel 8th Generation i3 processor, whereas the XPS 13 Developer Edition is available now with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (long-term support), an update that provides support for up to five years. With this, XPS 13 2-in-1 becomes the smallest hybrid laptop to come with 8th gen processor. The 2-in-1 comes with Dynamic Power Mode to extract maximum performance from the processor, as well as good viewing experience with UltraSharp QHD+ InfinityEdge touch display.

Vostro 14 and 15 5000 laptops

Dell continues to expand the Vostro line with new Vostro 14 and 15 5000 laptops 8th Generation Intel Core processors, USB Type-C port that provides power delivery and displays support, and an optional Single-Sign-On fingerprint reader The laptops comes with hardware TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 2.0, which provides commercial-grade protection and storage for encryption keys.

Dell 27 USB-C Ultrathin Monitor

Along with the above products, Dell also introduced the world’s brightest 27-inch USB-C ultrathin monitor in its class. Featuring up to 600 nits peak brightness, the Dell 27 USB-C Ultrathin (S2719DC) is a premium HDR monitor with VESA-certified DisplayHDR 600 and integrated with Corning Iris Glass light-guide plate (LGP) technology.

In addition to it, Dell also introduced a new line of SE Monitors with essential features for everyday computing. The new FHD monitors SE2219H, SE2419H and SE2719H come with thin bezels and are available in 21.5-inch, 23.8-inch, and 27-inch screen sizes respectively. Built with IPS panel, the SE monitor also comes with a flicker-free, low-haze screen, space-saving base.

  • XPS 13 with i3 will be available August 28 in U.S. starting at $899.99
  • XPS 13 2-in-1 with Intel 8th Generation processors will be available September 11 starting at $999.99.
  • Dell 27 USB-C Ultrathin Monitor will be available Sept. 20 starting at $549.99
  • Dell 22/24/27 SE Monitors will be available September 25 starting at $169.99 (22-inch), $199.99 (24-inch) and $249.99 (27-inch).
  • Inspiron 7000 2-in-1s will be available on October 2 starting at $879.99 (13-inch), $849.99 (15-inch) and $1,099.99 (17-inch).
  • Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 (5482) will be available starting at $599.99, Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 (5481) will be available at $459.99.
  • Vostro 5581 will be available Nov. 9 starting at $579.
  • Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1 will be available at $599 from October 23.
