Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus in India last year in April and exactly a year later, the company launched the Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red variant in India with exact similar specifications, but in a new color. Let’s take a detailed look at the hardware and specifications of the phone in this photo gallery.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red like the original variant sports a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ (2960 × 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity display with 570ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and curved edges on all the sides. Unlike the international variant, the Indian model is powered by an Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 9 Series 8895 processor. It packs 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage (UFS 2.1) that is further expandable up to 256GB with microSD with hybrid SIM slot. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red runs on the Android 8.0 Oreo with Experience version 9.0.
Thanks to the minimal bezels on top and bottom, it offers larger real estate for the display. For the first time, Samsung has removed its trademark home button from the bottom bezel, instead, now you have on-screen buttons taking up some part of the screen. Up front, you have the earpiece, usual set of proximity and ambient light sensors, 8MP front camera, and iris scanner.
The power button is present on the right side and it measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0mm and weighs 152 grams.
It also has a dedicated Bixby AI button and the volume rockers are present on the left-hand side of the phone.
Up top, there is a hybrid Dual SIM slot that houses nano SIM and nano SIM/ microSD card slots.
The 3.5mm audio jack, USB type-C port along with the primary microphone and speaker grille are present at the bottom. The antenna band cutouts are also visible.
Moving to the back, the Galaxy S8 sports a 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1/2.55″ sensor size, OIS and 1.4µm pixel size. Also present is the fingerprint sensor and a heart rate sensor.
It has an IP68 rating and is water resistant up to 1.5 meters in water for upto 30. There is Duos and Samsung branding on the back since it is a dual SIM variant.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS. It has a 3000mAh battery with fast Charging both on wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red Limited-Edition is now available for Rs. 45,990 on offline retailers as well as online retailer like Flipkart and Paytm, which is also offering Rs. 8,000 cashback so the effective price is Rs. 37,990.
