OnePlus released Android 8.0 (Oreo) Open Beta for OnePlus 3 and 3T last month and said that it will release the update for its OnePlus 5 users soon. Yesterday at the OnePlus 5T launch event Brian Yoon, Head of user experience design division at OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will get the Android Oreo Open Beta update this November. He also said that there are over 250 closed beta testers and over 15,000 open beta testers.

OnePlus 5T will get Android Oreo Open Beta only late December. Yoon said that the company doesn’t want to offer buggy Android Oreo at that launch for the 5T so it is running on Nougat currently. OnePlus 5 will get the final  Android Oreo OTA update in early 2018 and the 5T should also get it at the same time. It is not clear if the OnePlus 3 and 3T will get the final Android Oreo update at that same time.

OxygenOS open betas (Beta 12 for OnePlus 3T and Beta 21 for OnePlus 3) for the 3 and 3T phones brought new parallel apps feature that lets you run a parallel version of the same app using a separate account. This is now available on OnePlus 5T out of the box and should be available for other devices soon.  OnePlus has also announced that it will be releasing kernel sources for the OnePlus 5T soon.

OnePlus also announced a new Reach App that will let you transfer your old phone’s data to new OnePlus device with a single tap. This app will be available later this year. The company did not say if the new OxygenOS 4.7 features such as new face unlock will be available for OnePlus 5.
