Weekly Roundup: LG V30, Moto X4, Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and more from IFA 2017

This week at the ongoing IFA in Berlin, LG introduced the most expected V30 smartphone, Moto announced the X4, Sony unveiled the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, Samsung, Fitbit and others introduced new wearables and accessories.

LG V30 -10

LG finally announced its flagship V30 smartphone this week with a 6-inch (1440 × 2880 pixels) QHD+ OLED FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 835, 16-megapixel primary rear camera with f/1.6 aperture, Crystal Clear lens, OIS, Hybrid Auto Focus along with a 13-megapixel secondary camera with 120-degree wide-angle lens, Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with LG UX 6.0+,  32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC, IP68 water and dust resistance and MIL-STD 810G ratings.

It comes in Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet colors and will roll out starting from September 21.

Moto X4 went official this week. It packs a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 Mobile Platform, 3GB / 4GB RAM, Android 7.1 (Nougat), 12MP and 8MP rear cameras, 16MP front camera, IP68 certification for water resistance, Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the the front and back and 3,000 mAh battery with support for Turbo Charging.

It comes in Super Black and Sterling Blue colors, starts at 399 Euros (US$ 475 / Rs. 30,375 approx.) and will roll out starting in September.

Sony Xperia XZ1 -2

Sony unveiled Xperia XZ1 flagship and a smaller Xperia XZ1 Compact at the IFA. The XZ1 has a 5.2-inch 1080p HDR screen while the Compact comes with a 4.6-inch HD display. Most other specifications are same, including an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, Android 8.0 (Oreo)and 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera with 1/ 2.3″ Exmor RS memory stacked sensor,  5-axis image stabilization.

The XZ1 has a 13MP front camera and the Compact has a 8MP camera. Both come with IP65/68 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 comes in Moonlit Blue, Venus Pink, Warm Silver, and Black colors and the XZ1 Compact comes in White Silver, Black, Horizon Blue and Twilight Pink colors. These will roll out globally starting from September 2017.
Sony Xperia XA1 Plus
It also introduced Xperia XA1 Plus with 5.5-inch 1080p display, Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P20 SoC, 3GB RAM, Android 7.0 (Nougat), 23-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Hybrid Auto-Focus, 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3430mAh battery with support for fast charging. It comes in Gold, Black and Blue colors and will roll out from Autumn 2017.

Sony RX0

It also introduced RX0 camera with 1.0″-type stacked 15.3 MP Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, BIONZ X processor and a wide-angle ZEISS Tessar T 24mm F4 fixed lens to capture both RAW and JPEG stills and 4K video, full HD at 240 fps and super slow motion capture at up to 960 frames per sec. It is priced at $700 (Rs. 44735 approx.) / CA$900 and goes son sale in October 2017.

Sony WF-1000X

It also introduced LF-S50G, its first wireless speaker with the Google Assistant built-in along with other audio accessories that include headband style WH-1000XM2, behind-the-neck style WI-1000X, and the truly wireless WF-1000X earbuds with noise-cancellation technology and world’s first Adaptive Sound Control feature.

Samsung announced Gear Fit2 Pro fitness tracker and Gear Sport smartwatch both with 5 ATM water resistance in up to 50-meters of water and has Speedo’s swimming training app Speedo On that lets you track key swim metrics including lap count, lap time, stroke type and more. These are also MIL-STD-810G certified for durability.

The Gear Fit2 Pro comes in Black and Red colors in small and large sizes, is priced at $199 (Rs. 12,730 approx.) and will roll out starting from September 15th. The Gear Sport comes in Black and Blue colors and will cost 349.99 Euros (US$ 417 / Rs. 26,700 approx.) when it goes on sale in Europe in October.

Samsung Gear IconX 2018

It also introduced new Gear IconX with improved battery life of up to five hours of music streaming or seven hours of standalone music playback and new Black, Gray and Pink colors. It will be available by November 2017 for 229.99 Euros ($273 approx).

Lenovo Yoga 920

Lenovo unveiled Yoga 920 laptop with Cortana support that can recognize voice commands in standby mode and from up to 4 meters away, 12-inch Yoga 720, a compact and portable laptop that is thin and lightweight and Miix 520 2-in-1.

Lenovo Explorer

It also announced the Explorer Windows Mixed Reality headset at ongoing IFA 2017 that starts at  $349 for the Explorer headset and $449 for the Explorer headset  and Motion Controllers.

Acer announced new Chromebook 15 with  aluminium top cover and palm rest and is also thinner and lighter than previous generations. It sports a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920x1080p), is powered by dual-core Intel Celeron and quad-core Pentium processors, 32GB or 64GB flash storage, 4GB or 8GB RAM, USB 3.1 Type-C Port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2,two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, audio jack, and an SD card reader.

It is priced starting at $399 and will be available in the US in October.

Acer Switch 7 Black Edition

Acer introduced Swift 5, Spin 5 and Switch 7 Black Edition 2-in-1 and laptops starting at $799.

Acer also introduced two new 360-degree cameras powered by Snapdragon 625 and have 4G LTE support. The Acer Holo360 has a 3-inch touchscreen and lets you  livestream 360-degree video, thanks to dual 16-megapixel lenses with Sony IMX298 sensor. It runs on Android 7.1 and lets you share 360-degree photos and videos directly to social networks and also preview them on the device.

The Acer Holo360 will be available in North America in November at $429 (Rs. 27410 approx.) and come with water-resistant case. In EMEA region it will be available in Q4 2017 starting at 349 Euros (Rs. 26,660 approx.). No details about the price or available for the Acer Vision360 yet.

zenbook 14

Asus announced ZenBook Flip 14 and ZenBook 15 in the Flip series at IFA 2017 and VivoBook S14. The Asus Zenbook Flip 14 is priced at €799 ($953 approx.) while the ZenBook Flip 15 is priced at €899 ($1072 approx.). The VivoBook S14 is priced at €399 ($475 approx.).

It also introduced Windows Mixed Reality headset (HC102) powered by Windows 10 that starts at 449 Euros (US$ 535 / Rs. 34255 approx.).

SanDisk Ultra 400GB microSD

Western Digital  announced SanDisk Ultra 400GB microSDXC, which is world’s highest-capacity microSD card.It meets the Application Performance Class 1 (A1) requirements from the latest SD Association’s SD 5.1 specifications that lets the card to load apps faster. It is priced at an MSRP of $249.99 (Rs. 15,990 approx.).

Fitbit Ionic

Fitbit introduced Ionic, its first smartwatch with support for heart rate sensor,  new relative SpO2 sensor, GPS, on-device dynamic workouts,water resistance up to 50 meters, swim tracking, on-board music, contact-less payments with Fitbit Pay and over 4 days of battery life. It also introduced Flyer wireless headphones with durable, sweatproof design. The Ionic is priced at $299.95 (Rs. 19,130 approx.) and the Flyer is priced at $129.95 (Rs. 8,300 approx.). Both will ship worldwide from October 2017.

Dell introduced Latitude 7212 Rugged Extreme Tablet with 11.6-inch 1080p display, 16GB of RAM and up to a 1TB of PCIe SSD starting at $1,899. It also introduced new Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop that comes with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 discrete graphics  starting at $999 and 4K configurations starting at $1,449. In India Moto launched Moto G5S and also launched the Moto G5S Plus. The G5S powered by the same Snapdragon 430 SoC, but this has a slightly larger 5.2-inch 1080p screen and a better 16MP rear camera. It has a metal unibody design, fingerprint sensor on the front and a 3000mAh battery with support for Turbo charging.

The G5S Plus has 13-megapixel dual rear cameras with selective focus mode for portraits, adding blurred background effect, selective black and white coloring, replace background mode and more and an improved 8-megapixel front camera with flash.  It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, Octa-Core Snapdragon 625, Android 7.1 (Nougat), metal unibody design, fingerprint sensor and a 3000mAh battery with support for Turbo charging.

The Moto G5S comes in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold colors, is priced at Rs. 13,999 and is available exclusively from Amazon.in online and offline stores across India. The Moto G5S Plus comes in Lunar Gray and Blush Gold colors, is priced at Rs. 15,999 and is available exclusively from Amazon.in.

Nokia 130 2017

HMD Global this week launched new Nokia 130 feature phone in India for Rs. 1599. It has a 1.8-inch QQVGA color screen, LED torch light, inbuilt FM Radio and charges using a standard Micro USB cable (USB 2.0). It comes with a built-in rear camera and a microSD expansion slot. It comes in red, grey and black colors.
