Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, Gear S3 Classic global roll out begins

Samsung has launched Gear S3 smartwatch, it’s latest wearable under Gear series in the South Korean market today. Initially, the Gear S3 was announced at IFA 2016 in Berlin earlier this year.

Following the home market, the smartwatch will be gradually rolled out to other countries including Australia, Dubai, France, Germany, Singapore, UK and US starting from November 18.

The Samsung Gear S3 will be available in two variants — Gear S3 frontier and Gear S3 classic. Taking a cue from the traditional watch design, both Gear S3 Frontier, and Classic comes with circular bezel sporting a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display (360 x 360 pixels) with latest Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ protection and has rotating bezel.

Both the variants comes powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.0GHz clubbed with 768MB RAM and 4GB of inbuilt memory.

Moreover, the Gear S3 also features Samsung Pay along with MST payments capabilities, meaning consumers can make secure payment from their wrist itself. Initially, the Samsung Pay will be available in U.S, Australia, and Singapore. However, there is no announcement about the Samsung Pay facility on another market.

Samsung Gear S3 offers IP68 water/ dust resistant and supports connectivity options such as NFC, Wi-Fi, MST, GPS, S-Health, Alti/barometer and Speedometer apps. While the frontier variant supports 3G/LTE, the Classic version doesn’t.

The smartwatch is powered by a 380mAh battery with wireless charging, that can last for 4 days on a single charge. The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and Classic price start at $349.99 (approx Rs. 23,500), in Korea these start at 399,300 Korean won (US$ 342 / Rs. 23,000).
