Alcatel SHINE LITE

Alcatel, a mobile device brand of TCL Communication this week announced several smartphones, tablets and virtual reality (VR) devices at the IFA 2016 in Berlin. This includes Alcatel SHINE LITE smartphone with unibody metal design with glass back, Alcatel XL smartphone with a 6-inch display, POP 4 tablets in 10-inch and 7-inch screen sizes, VISION VR headset, 360 Camera and Move wearable range the includes MOVEBAND, MOVETIME WiFi Watch, MOVETRACK and MOVE Track&Talk.

The Alcatel POP 4 10″ tablet has a 10-inch Full HD display, is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, whilte the POP 4 7″ comes with a 7-inch Full HD screen and is powered by a Quad-Core MediaTek MT8735 SoC. Both these have 4G LTE connectivity. Other details are not available yet. These tablets have MaxxAudio by Waves.

Alcatel Vision

 

The Alcatel VISION is a standalone virtual reality headset that has two 3.8″  (1080 x 1020 pixels) AMOLED screens offering 120° FOV. It promises comfortable viewing of VR content for 2-3 hours and can also be worn with glasses. It has low 17 milliseconds latency Alcatel has partnered with Jaunt VR, Magic Interactive Entertainment and Fraunhofer for pre-loaded content.

Alcatel 360 Cameras

The Alcatel 360 Camera comes in two models, both with a dual 210° fisheye lens: a rectangular model and a ball-shaped one. These allow users to capture then preview and share on the smartphones instantly using USB.

Finally, the MOVE series has MOVEBAND fitness tracker to track daily activities (distance traveled, pace, time, calories, etc.) and sleep. It also offers alerts for text messages, calls and e-mail when connected to a phone. It will be sold in a bundle package with Alcatel smartphones.

Alcatel MOVETIME

The MOVETIME WiFi Watch lets you make and receive calls directly from the wrists and also shows emails, SMS and reminders on your wrist. It also trackers your fitness sch as steps, calories, distance, time, water and caffeine intake, and heart rate. It comes in silver, dark grey and gold colors.

Alcatel MOVETRACK

The MOVETRACK is a portable GPS tracker that weighs just 33 grams. It can be hooked onto luggage or a keychain. You can also connect it to your pet’s collar to keep track of it. You can also receive notifications when your device enters or leaves a safe zone you set on the map. It offers real-time tracking and up to 4 days of standby.

Alcatel MOVE Track&Talk

The MOVE Track&Talk lets parents ensure their children’s safety. It can store five speed-dial numbers for quick calling and 10 pre-set contacts in case of emergency. It has GPS, GSM and WiFi to allow parents to locate their child within 90 seconds. It promises up to four days of battery life.

The Alcatel SHINE LITE comes in Satin Gold, Pure White and Prime Black colors and is priced at around 199 Euros (US$ 220 / Rs. 14,780 approx.). The Alcatel XL smartphone and POP 4 tablets will initially be available in MEA and Europe, starting from mid-October but no word on pricing yet.

The Alcatel VISION VR headset is expected will be priced between 499 and 599 Euros (US$ 556 / Rs. 37055 approx. and US$ 668 / Rs. 44480 approx.) and the 360 Camera will be priced around 99 Euros (US$ 110 / Rs. 7350 approx.) when these go on sale later this year. The MOVE series will be available starting from the end of September.
