Samsung Z2

Samsung launched the successor of Tizen OS-powered Z1 at an event in New Delhi this week as the Samsung Z2.

The Samsung Z2 has a 4-inch WVGA display, is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Tizen OS 2.4. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It has dual-SIM support and 4G connectivity. Checkout our hands on and photo gallery here.

The Samsung Z2 comes in Gold, Black and Wine Red colors and is priced at Rs. 4590. It will be exclusively available from Paytm online and also through offline retail stores from August 29th. It comes with Jio Preview offer that offers unlimited access to voice and data along with Jio apps for 90 days.

Gionee launched S6s, the company’s latest smartphone in the ‘S series’. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by an Octa-Core Mediatek MT6753 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The main highlight of the smartphone is its 8-megapixel front-facing camera with selfie flash. It also has a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX258 sensor along with PDAF that lets you focus in 0.3 seconds and a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Gionee S6s -7

The Gionee S6s comes in Gold, Rose Gold and Silver and is priced at Rs. 17,999. It is exclusively available through Amazon.in and also through retail stores offline everywhere in the country. Checkout our unboxing below and read our first impressions here.

Xiaomi this week announced Redmi Note 4 in China. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 SoC and runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) with dual-tone LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in Gold, Silver and Gray colors and is priced at 899 yuan (US$ 135 / Rs. 9060 approx.) for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version and the 3GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs 1199 yuan (US$ 180 / Rs. 12,080 approx.).  It will be available in China starting from August 26th through Mi online store, China Mobile and online retailers.

Nextbit finally launched the limited edition Ember color variant of the Robin smartphone in India on Flipkart for Rs. 19,999. It was expected to launch earlier this month. The limited edition variant has a black back with bright red end caps.

The smartphone recently received a Rs. 5,000 limited period price cut in the country. Now the phone is back to original price, but currently Flipkart is offering up to Rs. 15,000 discount in exchange for old phones.

YU launched the YUNIQUE PLUS and YUREKA S smartphones this week. Both these have 4G LTE connectivity and run Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS. The YUNIQUE PLUS has 2GB of RAM compared to 1GB of RAM on the YUNIQUE, while other specs are same.

The YU YUNIQUE PLUS and YUREKA S are priced at Rs. 6999 and Rs. 12999, respectively and are available across retail stores pan India.

Infocus launched Bingo 50+, it’s latest budget 4G smartphone in the Bingo series and the successor of Bingo 50 that was launched earlier this year. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT6735 processor, runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with InLife UI 2.0 and a 8-megapixel auto focus front-facing camera, similar to the Bingo 50, but it has a larger 5.5-inch HD display and has a 13-megapixel rear camera.

The Infocus Bingo 50+ comes in Gold and Silver colors and is priced at Rs. 7999.

Vivo launched Y21L, the company’s latest smartphone with voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) support. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA screen, is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC and run on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual-SIM support as well.

The vivo Y21L comes in white and grey colors and is priced at Rs. 7490.

Reliance Retail launched LYF Water 10, The latest smartphone in the LYF Water series with 4G VoLTE support. It has a 5-inch HD display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek SoC, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

It has leather-like back, comes with dual SIM support, gesture controls and anti-theft features. The LYF Water 10 comes in Black color and is priced at Rs. 8,699.

Garmin launched its first full-fledged luxury smartwatch dubbed Fenix Chronos with advanced tracking, fitness training, GPS navigation, heart –rate monitoring and more. Apart from standard notification alerts to step, sleep, calorie counting, the Chronos smartwatch can also measure and record activities like run, bike, lap swim, open water, SUP, row, golf and more. 

The Fenix Chronos is made with premium jeweler’s grade materials, and boasts of high-strength and scratch-resistant sapphire lens, and features a 1.2-inch Chroma display with LED backlighting. It also has a 10ATM (100m) water rating, and all variants are designed to withstand any sort of damage, claims Garmin.

The Garmin Fenix Chronos will be available in three versions – Fenix Chronos titanium with brushed titanium band priced at $1499.99, Fenix Chronos steel with brushed stainless steel band priced at $999.99, and Fenix Chronos steel with vintage leather band at $899.99.

Canon launched its latest high-end EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera in India. It has a 30.4-megapixel 35mm Full Frame Canon CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 6+ Image Processor delivers 4K 30P video and up to and 7fps continuous shooting. It uses Canon’s propriety Dual Pixel CMOS AF, even when shooting 4K to help ensure sharp focus and subject tracking. Check full specifications and features here.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

The Canon 5D Mark IV camera is priced at Rs. 2,54,995 (costs $3,499 in the US) for the body-only version and will be available across India in the second week of September. The Canon 5D Mark IV with 24-70mm f/4L IS II USM Standard Zoom lens it will cost Rs. 3,06,995 (costs 4,399 in the US). The camera with the 24-105mm F/4 IS II USM lens will cost Rs. 3,24,995 (costs 4,599 in the US) and will be available in October.

Intex launched two smartphones this week – the Cloud Tread, and the Aqua Power HD 4G.

The Cloud Tread has a 5-inch HD display, is powered by an Hexa-Core MediaTek MT6591 64-bit SoC and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has 5-megapixel front and rear cameras. It has dual-SIM support and 3G connectivity.

On the other hand, the Intex Aqua Power HD 4G is the successor of the Intex Aqua Power HD that was launched last year. Alongside, dual-SIM 4G support, it packs a 5-inch HD screen, is powered by the same 1.4 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and comes with a 3900mAh battery. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Intex Cloud Tread comes in Grey and Champagne colors and is priced at Rs. 4999. The Intex Aqua Power HD 4G comes in Champagne, Blue and Grey colors and is priced at Rs. 8,363.

Karbonn launched K9 Viraat, the company’s latest smartphone in the K series. It has a 5.5-inch HD screen, is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has dual-SIM support and comes with 3G connectivity.

Meizu this week announced U10 and U20, two new smartphones in the U series running YunOS with Flyme UI on top and a new design that has a curved glass panel on the back. Both the phones have a fingerprint sensor embedded into the mTouch 2.1 home button. Checkout full specifications here.

The Meizu U10 and U20 come in Black, White, Champagne Gold and Rose Gold colors. The Meizu U10 is priced at 999 yuan (US$ 150 / Rs. 10075 approx.) for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version and the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version costs 1199 yuan (US$ 180 / Rs. 12,090 approx.) . It will be available in China starting from September 18th. The Meizu U20 is priced at 1099 yuan (US$ 165 / Rs. 11,085 approx.) for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version and the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version costs 1299 yuan (US$ 195 / Rs. 13,095 approx.). It will be available in China starting from August 28th.

Lastly, OnePlus announced its new Bullets V2 in-ear earphones, successor of the Bullets Earphones that was introduced back in 2014. It has partnered with the German audio experts over at LOFO and ARYPHAN polyarylate diaphragm, known for its light weight and high vibration frequency.

OnePlus has optimized tri-band tuning process by improving the range to deliver richer bass, more delicate treble, and a smoother mid-range compared to the first Bullets earphones. It weighs just 2 grams and come with anti-allergy silicone ear tips in various sizes.
