YouTube rolls out own in-app messenger

YouTube in-app messenger

YouTube has secretly launched a new in-app messenger for small group of users. The instant messaging service is aimed at making it easier for users to share videos.

YouTube is calling the new feature as “native sharing” as you share videos within the app and invite friends into conversation threads. Along with sharing videos instantly on the instant messenger, the new feautre will also let users chat within the app.

As per screenshots released by Wired the UI of the app is pretty simple as messages and shared videos are housed in a separate window. After checking out a shared video, users can go right back to the thread and continue chatting. Moreover, users can even reply to a conversation with a YouTube video. You can also see a ‘heart’ icon for messages and videos.

The in-app feature looks useful as it will make it well let you share videos and discuss them in one place. One of the main aims of YouTube is to keep users on its platform and increase user engagement. There is no word when YouTube will roll out the feature globally.
