Micromax now in Sri Lanka , Jacqueline Fernandez to Endorse ?


Micromax has entered Sri Lanka in a move to tap the Rural market there. Jacqueline Fernandez who is Miss Sri Lanka and also a Bollywood actress was present at the event in Sri Lanka. She might endorse the product in the country. The company is seen as a pretty aggressive player and claims to have close to 6% market share in India. This move might boost exports for the Indian company.
“In Sri Lanka, similar to many other countries the mobile phone has become a personal device which is top of the mind of many and the 30 day battery backup facility and dual SIM facility coupled with the affordable price will be an ideal package to penetrate the low tele-density rural population and the North and Eastern markets,” said Vikas Jain of Micromax Informatics Limited

This is the second time the Indian company is setting up shop abroad. It first started operations in Nepal. Micromax plans to launch phones in Bangladesh, Middle East and Brazil in the coming months.
