LINE rolls out group voice calls with upto 200 users

LINE messenger has added a new feature to its app on Android and iOS that will let users make group voice calls with upto 200 people within their group or multiple person chat.

LINE group calling

Line added free voice call to its app in October 2011 while the video calling feature followed in September 2013. Calls can be initiated from within group chats or multiple person chats, and a notification message will be sent to all of the users participating in the chat. You can also confirm the number of people currently participating in the call right from the chat. An icon is displayed above the user icon of the person currently speaking at the time, enabling users to easily communicate with each other.

Line said the feature is rolling out to countries outside Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and Indonesia and will be expanded to these countries later. The Google Play Store listing in India shows that the group voice call service is available in the country. Besides the group voice calling feature, the Line app is also getting a refreshed UI for the More tab as the layout of the menu icons have been modified for increased visibility and an even greater user experience.
