Skype for Android improves productivity in latest update

Skype has added a couple of new features to its Android app which focuses on improving productivity. The update brings a call scheduling feature and lets you open files directly in Microsoft Office.

Skype Office

Last week, Microsoft updated Outlook for Android and iOS with support to schedule Skype calls and now the feature is coming to Skype. With the latest update, you can now schedule calls in Outlook from Skype. Users will have to tap on the person they want to a call and then tap the menu on the upper right to select ‘Schedule a call.’ Skype says that you don’t need to have Outlook account to access this feature as it works with any calendar app. Skype will create an event and send out the calendar invite.

Next up, users will be able to open Microsoft Office documents, presentations and spreadsheets that you receive in private or group chats. If someone sends you a Word or PowerPoint file, tapping on the file will open it right up in Word for Android. Skype said that if you don’t have the Office app installed, tapping on the file will tell you how to download and install it
