LG G5 tipped to sport dual displays, dual cameras and hardware expansion

We have heard a bunch of rumors about the LG G5 in past few months. Today, popular leakster Evan Blass a.k.a @evleaks has revealed some of the important specifications of the upcoming flagship phone from LG.

First up, the LG G5 is said to sport a metal body and have a premium look. The phone will apparently take a cue from LG’s V10 smartphone in case of the design and have the ticker or dual display. Moving on, the original display of the G5 will be 5.3 inch with 2560×1440 resolution that is smaller than the G4. Blass further said that the ticker display will be a feature that will stand out in LG’s entire 2016 lineup. Coming to the processor, the G5 is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC which is accompanied with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

In case of the expandable memory, Blass stated that the phone will come with “hardware expansion” and have a “magic slot” on the device that could enable some functional expansion using modules. Camera has been a strong feature of LG devices and the G5 also seems to be a powerful player as it will have dual 16MP rear cameras with 135-degree wide-angle capability. The V10 has 5MP dual cameras only in the front.  The dual camera’s on the G5 will be equipped by an RGB sensor in addition to laser auto-focus for lightning quick response time. The possibility about dual rear camera setup and metal body was mentioned last week by a Reddit user.

Front facing camera on the device will be 8MP similar to the G4, as per sources close to Blass. Moving on the battery, the phone will have a 2800mAh battery that is bit smaller to the 3000mAh battery on the G4. The year 2016 is going to be the year where fingerprint sensor will act a deal breaker when it comes to selecting a phone. Hence, the G5 will also sport a fingerprint sensor similar to the Nexus 5x.  The LG G5 is expected to be announced at MWC in February 2016.
