Google updates Play Books for better comic book reading experience, offers free comics for limited period

Google has updated Google Play Books app with vertical scrolling experience for comics in landscape mode, offering better comic book reading experience on phone or tablet. You can just use your device in the landscape mode and easily scroll through the story with quick vertical swipes.

Google has also added new comics section and curated series pages for comics on the Google Play Store that organizes volumes, issues and other editions of the top comic series. It also offers new personalized recommendations for similar series that would let you discover new stories and characters. Some of the series include, The Walking Dead, Justice League, Deadpool and Mortal Kombat.

Google is also offering several free comics (link doesn’t open in India, but you get all these free comic books in India as well), including issues from The X-Files, Lazarus, and Jem and the Holograms, and more for free to celebrate this.

New Google Play Books update will roll out to Android users in the next few days in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, India, Singapore, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa. It will also roll out for iOS users soon.
