Phillips launched Hue connected LED lighting in India earlier this month. The Hue Starter Kit, which includes the bridge and three Hue lamps is priced at 16,995. We unboxed it recently, check out the unboxing video and a demo.
- 3 Hue 9 W Hue bulbs with E27 base
- 2-pin AC power adapter (5V-600mA)
- Ethernet cable RJ45
- User manual
The Hue lamps can be installed into the existing bulb holders. The 9W Hue lamp offers 360 lm at 2000K, 510 lm at 3000K, 550 lm at 6500K and 600 lm at 4000K. The Hue Bridge needs to be connected to a router using Ethernet. It can also be mounted on the wall. Once the set up is complete and the bulbs are connected, you can download the Hue app for Android or iPhone to remotely control home lighting. The app has several customization options, including scene modes that lets you choose a photo and get the colors in it to match the color of the bulb. It also supports IFTTT so that you can connect to hundreds of apps and create a recipe.
You can connect up to 50 lights and control them, and can also set the lights to turn on and off when you’re away from home. Philips Hue is available through authorized Philips Light Lounges, select retail outlets of Croma and Reliance Digital across India and is also available online from Snapdeal.
