Samsung planning to launch 10 devices priced between Rs 9,000 – Rs 18,000 next quarter

Samsung is apparently planning to launch a bunch of devices; 10 to be specific between the range of Rs 9,000 to 18,000 in order to fight back the stiff competition from Chinese manufacturers.

By doing so, Samsung will be going head to head with Lenovo, Xiaomi, Motorola and Micromax among many. The models that these companies introduced in the above mentioned price segment has led to a drop in Samsung’s market share in the same segment.

Samsung has launched several Galaxy Grand and Core devices but they don’t stand out against the competition. Around 70% of Samsung’s revenue in India is generated from smartphones.

ET reports that, the rollout which will be led by Samsung India President HyunChil Hong will see the largest release of unique models in India. Two of these 10 devices will be the J7 and J5. Both of which will also support 4G LTE on India’s networks and are expected to hit the stores as early as sometime next month.

The mid range segment accounts for 30% of the smartphone sales which is only preceeded by the low end segment which accounts for 35% of smartphone sales. So Samsung are targetting the mid range segment to get back on top of the game. Let us wait and see what Samsung have up their sleeves over the coming few months.
