Sony to roll out Android 5.1 for Xperia Z series, T2 Ultra and C3 from July, Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua to follow

Sony Xperia Z3 Lollipop

Sony has announced that the it will roll out Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update for the entire Xperia Z, including Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact starting from July.

The Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Dual that were launched running on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) got the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update in August last year. Sony introduced the Xperia M2 Aqua and Xperia M2 Aqua Dual with Android 4.4 (KitKat) recently. These smartphones will be directly updated to Android 5.1 (Lollipop), but only little after the update begins rolling out for the Xperia Z series.

The roll out might vary across different carriers and countries. Even though Sony has rolled out Lollipop update for most devices worldwide, as it promised, it is still rolling out the Android 5.0 update for some devices in more markets worldwide.
