Video: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to be released with Android 2.0 ?

Something very very interesting popped up in my News Reader today: René, from the highly recommended german Website mobiflip.de has attended the CeBIT recently and amongst some other latest Devices, such as the latest HTC Bangers Legend and Desire, he also had a play with the long-awaited Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. The interesting Part? Well, the Demo Girl confirmed to René that the X10 will indeed be released with Android 2.0 on it! The Demo Device had 1.6 on it and to be honest, I’m again not too impressed with what i was seeing. The Device was obviously still lagging and did not do the Overall Impressions any Favors.

While i’m confident that Android 2.0 should give the X10 a big Boost (I’m having the leaked Eris ROM on my HTC Hero and it’s significantly snappier), i smell Bugs all over the Device. Back in November 2009, i was invited to a Sony Ericsson Press Demo, with the official Introduction of the X10 to Austria, and had my Hands on a Proto. The Handset was pretty nice in Terms of Hardware Quality, and also the UX Interface was great, but i had Hangups and Lags over and over again. At some Point, i even wondered where the Snapdragon Processor was hidden. Seeing Renés Video shows a slightly better Experience than I’ve had it, but still far away from the Performance you would expect. But, and here’s were the Doubts kick in, this is the first Time i heard that 2.0 will be running on the X10, and i doubt that SE has much Time to actually make UX ready for the new Version. The Problems i smell here, are Bugs and closed Apps all over. While I’m happy we will get Android 2.0, I hope SE sorts out their Software and really gives us a Device that impresses us big Time. I’m having high Hopes in the Xperia X10, so please, let this Experience something to drool about!
