Nokia Mobile Games Innovation Challenge

Nokia is strengthening its efforts to promote mobile gaming on mobile phones and handheld devices. As a part of this initiative it has launched the worldwide Mobile Games Innovation Challenge. This challenge will drive game developers all around the world to develop world-class games that will be used on mobile phones. Using this challenge Nokia will encourage world-class developers to design and implement mobile games that are far more efficient than what we have today. This challenge is first of its kind that is being implemented by a mobile handset vendor. The mobile games that will be developed in this challenge will rely on the advanced features and functionalities of N-Gage compatible devices, and Java or Symbian Series 40 or S60 devices from Nokia. According to Nokia, “The three most innovative game concepts will be offered Nokia Publishing pre-production contracts, targeting publication of their winning concept on the corresponding Nokia device platform. In addition, the first winner will be awarded $40,000, the second $20,000, and the third $10,000 to enable the participant to further develop the concept.”
Like Internet and Music, gaming is also an important part of Nokia’s Next Episode in Entertainment and the company has a positive mobile gaming out look. Last week Nokia launched the N Gage gaming platform, which was extended to many other N Series devices apart from the N81.
