WhatsApp is back on Windows Phone Store, brings Chat backgrounds, Privacy features and more

WhatsApps was suddenly removed from the Windows Phone Store due to technical issues and the WhatsApp team said that they are working with Microsoft to resolve the issues and bring it back shortly. The app did not return to the store even after a week, leaving Windows Phone users frustrated, since this is the only way to download the app for the platform. Few hours back the apps has returned to the Windows Phone Store and it has also been updated with new features.

The new update allows users to set custom chat backgrounds, new privacy feature lets you hide Last seen, Profile Photo and Status. These features were rumored earlier this year. These features are already available for Android and iPhone apps. Windows Phone 8.1 users also gets a warning that some features won’t work. Here is the changelog

  • Media auto-download settings (settings > chat settings > media autodownload)
