WhatsApp temporarily taken down from Windows Phone Store due to technical issues

WhatsApp has been temporarily pulled down from Windows Phone Store due to some technical issues. A search for the app on Windows phone store now simply says, “The app is no longer published.”

The popular cross platform messaging client has been suffering from crashes on Windows 8.1 however, it was working fine on Windows Phone 8. WhatsApp is now working with Microsoft to resolve these issues before the app can be submitted again. Existing WhatsApp users are being able to use the app but with some glitches, however, new users will have to wait some time before the app is back on the store for downloading.

WhatsApp which is available on the Windows Store from September 2011 has replied to WPCentral with a feedback saying, ”

Unfortunately due to technical issues, we have chosen to un-publish WhatsApp Messenger on the Windows Phone platform. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issues and hope to return to the store shortly. We apologize to our users for the temporary inconvenience.

The WhatsApp for Windows Phone had not received an unpdate since January this year, however, it was reported in February that the app will soon get new privacy features along with background gallery. Acquired by Facebook in February this year for $19 billion, WhatsApp is the largest instant messaging platform in the world with over 500 million active users.
