Gionee Elife S5.5 Hands On

Gionee introduced the Elife S5.5, the world’s slimmest smartphone at just 5.55 mm thickness at an event in China last week. The company showcased the device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, and we got some time to check out the slimmest device. The phone has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED touch screen display from Japan Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a a 1.7 GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 with Amigo 2.0 UI on top. Check out the hands-on video below.

The phone has a thin stainless steel frame.

On the back, there is a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with stacked Sony sensor, and an LED flash. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 95-degree wide angle lens.

Even the back has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, that prevents the phone from scratches. It packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

It has a 3.5mm audio jacks and a secondary microphone on top. It has a 2300 mAh Non-removable battery. The 3G version of the Elife E5.5 3G version would go on sale in China next month. It is also expected to go on sale in India soon. Gionee would launch the LTE variant of the phone in June.
