Videocon Telecom plans to bid for 900 MHz specturm for Delhi in 2014 auction

Videocon Telecom, the telecommunication arm of the Videocon group has announced that they have planned to participate in the upcoming spectrum Auction and bid for the 900 MHz license for Delhi. The company rolled their services in 3 out of 6 circles they acquired in November 2012 auction, after it lost its license in 21 circles after high court order. The company has improved its network presence in the four operating circles including Punjab and  plans to roll out the services in remaining 3 circles within the next 12 months.

Sharp cut in the reserve spectrum floor price for the 900 MHz spectrum is very attractive, says the company and plans to bid for the license in upcoming January 2014 auction. It has appointed Deloitte to evaluate and present the opportunity & present a business case on the same.

Delhi telecom circle is of an utmost importance to us, both strategically and potentially, and the fact the Delhi license will be available on 900 Mhz spectrum completely fits in our strategic framework.900 Mhz is a much more efficient spectrum and the fact that the liberalized license regime allows you to offer next generation data service makes it even more lucrative
