Nokia Money – Mobile wallet service launched across India


Nokia has launched Nokia Money, their own Mobile wallet service across India. This is a secure and convenient alternate to cash on a mass scale on mobile phone. Nokia Money offers basic financial payments such as utility bills, pre-paid mobile top-ups, DTH recharge, insurance premiums and tickets and more, without the need of accessing bank account or the internet.

Customers can go to local authorized Nokia retail store that offers this service and register for the service. They can then pay cash to load the wallet and use it. The digital cash can then be used for making payments through an SMS. According to RBI guidelines, this service doesn’t require KYC documentation since it is a closed wallet. Nokia Money is independent of any mobile operator or individual banking network.

Nokia Money operates across all handsets in India and comes pre-loaded in wide range of Nokia handsets of different price points such as Nokia 100, 101, Nokia X1-01, C1-01, C1-02, X1-01 and more. The app can also be installed nearly on all already existing Nokia handsets and it works over SMS, GPRS/3G and Wi-Fi and allows for zero balance giving users flexibility.
