Apple iPad 2 India Launch Confirmed , coming on April 29

Wow ! Apple India just sent a press release confirming that the iPad 2 is indeed launching in India on April 29th. The iPad 2 has been facing unexpected demand ever since it’s US launch and it is sold out in most stores. The iPad 2 will be available in Japan on April 28.It will be available in  Hong Kong, Israel, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, UAE and India on April 29.China will get the WiFi version on May 6th.

The base 16GB WiFi model of the iPad 2 will be available for Rs.29500 including taxes and the base 16GB  WiFi+3G Model will be available for Rs.36900. It’s nice that the rumors were actually true. Are you going to buy the iPad 2 in India ?

The Smart Cover is also going to be available The vibrant polyurethane version will cost Rs 2,100 and the rich leather version will cost Rs 3,800

iPad 2 Arrives in Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore & Eight Other Countries This Week

Wi-Fi Version Available in China on May 6

CUPERTINO, California—April 27, 2011—Apple® today announced that iPad® 2, the second-generation of its breakthrough post-PC device, will arrive in Japan on Thursday, April 28 and Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and eight additional countries on Friday, April 29. iPad 2 will be available at select Apple Authorized Resellers at 9 a.m. local time. Additionally, iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in China beginning Friday, May 6.

iPad 2 features an entirely new design that is 33 percent thinner and up to 15 percent lighter than the original iPad, while maintaining the same stunning 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen. iPad 2 features Apple’s new dual-core A5 processor for blazing fast performance and stunning graphics and now includes two cameras, a front-facing VGA camera for FaceTime® and Photo Booth®, and a rear-facing camera that captures 720p HD video, bringing the innovative FaceTime feature to iPad users for the first time. Though it is thinner, lighter, faster and packed with new features, iPad 2 still delivers up to 10 hours of battery life* that users have come to expect.

Pricing & Availability
iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in Japan on April 28 and Hong Kong, Israel, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, UAE and India on April 29 for a suggested maximum retail price of Rs 29,500 (Inc Vat) for the 16GB model, Rs 34,500 (Inc VAT) for the 32GB model and Rs 39,500 (Inc VAT) for the 64GB model. iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G will be available for a maximum retail price of Rs 36,900  (Inc VAT)  for the 16GB model, Rs 41,900  (Inc VAT)  for the 32GB model and Rs 46,900  (Inc VAT)  for the 64GB model. iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available in China on May 6, and further international availability will be announced at a later date.

iMovie® and GarageBand® for iPad apps are available for $4.99 (US) each from the  App Store℠ on iPad or www.itunes.com/appstore. The Smart Cover is available in a range of colors in vibrant polyurethane or rich leather for Rs 2,100 (Inc VAT) and Rs 3,800 (Inc VAT).

    No way, not at that price. The older price of iPad 1 which was priced at 28k initially felt apt, but 29.5k is sorta high.

    Yeah even I wish if they could sell at the original iPad’s price. But whatever it’s worth to pay 1.5 k extra and getting it earlier.

    Finally apple seem to realize there are other tablets too in the indian market which can easily wipe of there small indian market share and are forcefully launching ipad 2 early,infact in my opnion i thought it wont be coming any sooner than next year like apple did with its earlier product, launching in indian market after ages of its world wide availability. BuT Now thankfully its available on time and that too officially or else grey markets are always there for availability but with extra premium.
    STEVE JOBS is finally awake and hopefully even next iphone or any other apple product wont be due atleast in indian markets.
