Apple Watch Series 3 with built-in cellular connectivity launching in India on Airtel and Reliance Jio on May 11

Apple today announced that it will launch the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) on May 11th in India, months after it launched the Apple Watch Series 3 standard version. Airtel said that it will start pre-registrations for the new Apple Watch on May 4, 2018 on Airtel website. It will also be available from Reliance Jio, and the pre-orders begins on jio.com starting May 4. It will also be available on Reliance Digital and Jio Stores starting May 11.

This uses an eSIM, so you don’t require a separate SIM. Reliance Jio has also announced its JioEverywhereConnect service that allows you to use the same Jio number on both your iPhone and the Apple Watch.  The JioEverywhereConnect service will be available at no extra cost to iPhone users. Jio also promises priority first day delivery on pre-order.

To help Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) customers get started, Airtel is also offering special introductory cellular trial. “To activate cellular service with Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), customers first need to update iPhone to iOS 11.3 and watchOS 4.3, then tap Settings on iPhone > General > About and follow the prompt to update to the latest carrier settings,” said Airtel.

The Apple Watch Series 3 has an upgraded dual-core processor offering 70% faster performance, new W2 wireless chip offering 85% faster WiFi performance, 50% efficient Bluetooth connectivity, Water resistant body, and up to 18 hours of battery life.

We still don’t have the price of  Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) for India yet, which we should know closer to the launch.
