iPhone 4 vs Nokia N8 Camera Comparison - Round 1

The Nokia N8 is one of the most powerful camera phones in the market and it features a 12 MP Camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a powerful Xenon Flash.The Apple iPhone 4 finally has a pretty impressive 5 MP camera with a really fast shutter and a LED Flash.Here is the iPhone 4 vs Nokia N8 Camera Comparison – Round 1 where we took both these phones to click pics during the weekend.

All photos were taken in Auto modes with Flash turned off unless indicated below. We had also disabled HDR photos on the iPhone 4.

We have downsized the photos from both the phones to 288x215px for the iPhone 4 and 287x215px for the Nokia N8 and the images have not been edited and are presented as is.We have also not watermarked the images below as they may introduce some quality issues.

The purpose of Round 1 was to see how these phones perform in low light condition with and without flash. The Xenon Flash on the Nokia N8 beats the iPhone 4 LED Flash hands down. Some of the iPhone 4 photos seem over-saturated and over-exposed and tend to deviate from the real colors.The Nokia N8 photos have more detail in them and closer to real colors.In some conditions which had a lot of bright light sources, the iPhone 4 handled the situation very well.

We found it easier to click pics on the Nokia N8 with a 2 stage Camera key as the iPhone4 lacks a Camera key.The Camera app on the N8 has a lot of settings while the iPhone 4 offers zero or very little customization.Now that you have seen the pics from both the Camera Phones.     i agree with the fonearena that iphone is good compare to all other phones.. but its not a justice to capture images from different angles with both phones. when capturing from iphone, the object is nearer compare to nokia phone

    I think that the settings are very optimized in Iphone 4 and there fore, manual changes are not needed. The colour contrast is fantastic in both the comparative pictures but Iphone 4 seems to be doing a better job on averall performance. I would vote for Iphone 4.

    this is not a justice for n8.iphone4 setting is optimized and iphone4 image captured in good angle.n8 is better

    I think iphone is better bcoz with 5mp camera,it is doing very well.just iagine if apple launches iphone with 12mp and xenon flash!!!!!!.

    remove the protective plastic on n8!!!or the n8 lense has dirt on it this is a biased and unfair comparaison!!i asure you if i bring mine it will pown the iphone 4!

      This is fake I have a Nokia N8 and pictures are not like those showed here, I can tell you for sure that Nokia N8 12 mp cam kicks the iphone camera.

    The battle wasn’t fair.
    It seems u hadn’t removed the plastic cover on N8. Any one can see how unclear the photos taken by N8 were.
    N8 is still the best.

    if someone really thinks that it is always about the megapixel then you are surely a looser who had purchased n8 due to budget problems. the clarity in a photograph has nothing to do with megapixels. Megapixel only increases the size of a photograph. for a same size photograph iphone 4 gives a much better shot than n8. it is the policy of nokia to fool the people and sell their scrap. if you have the sufficient budget than go for iphone 4.
