Google Pixel Hands On and Photo Gallery

Google finally announced Pixel smartphone at an event in the US yesterday. We were live at the event and have got our hands on the Pixel smartphone. So let’s take a detailed look at the hardware and specifications of the phone.

The Pixel smartphone sports a 5-inch (1920x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by a 2.15 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 821 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. Running Android 7.1 (Nougat), the phone comes with 4GB LPDDR RAM and 32GB / 128GB internal storage options.

It has slim bezels on the sides and a slightly large bezel below the display. The new Pixel launcher is sleek and looks polished with small navigation buttons.

At the front you have 8MP front camera with Sony IMX179 sensor, 1.4µm
pixel size, f/2.4 aperture, earpiece and the usual set of proximity and ambient light sensors.

The power button and volume rockers are present on the right side. The device measures 143.8 x 69.5 x 7.3 ~ 8.5 mm and weighs 143 grams.

The left side houses nano SIM card tray.

At the bottom you have a Type-C port, speaker grill and microphone.

A 3.5mm audio jack is present along with antenna band cut out on the top.

The phone has a unibody metal design and a 2.5D glass on the top half. The fingerprint sensor is present on the glass back along with 12.3MP rear camera with LED flash, Sony IMX378 sensor, 1.55um pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, LDAF. Also seen are microphones and laser auto focus next to the camera module which does not come with a hump.

The Pixel phone has a ‘G’ branding at the lower back as it is Made by Google. Also seen at the end is the antenna line.

The Pixel comes with connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC. It has a 2,770mAh battery.

The Google Pixel comes in Quite Black, Very Silver and limited edition  U.S. only Really Blue colors and starts at $649 for 32GB and $749 for the 128GB version. In India it is priced at Rs. 57,000 for the 32GB version and Rs. 66,000 for the 128GB version. It will be available for pre-order in India on Flipkart online on October 13th and will also be available from Reliance Digital, Croma and other offline stores.
