The Vibe S1 packs a 5-inch 1080p IPS display at 440 PPI and even has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6752 processor with Mali T760-MP2 GPU and packs 3GB of RAM. The display looks good and it is bright. It runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS with Lenovo’s own Vibe UI on top, which is a bit outdated, since Google has already released Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) update.

Since this is a selfie-centric smartphone, it has a 8-megapixel front-facing camera, along with the secondary 2-megapixel camera. This promises crisp images and depth of field, including background blur, background swap and improved low-light results. It has dual cam mode that will shoot a selfie using both the cameras and lets you blur the background or cut out your image and swap the background. We will be testing out all these in the review soon.

The phone has brushed metal finish on the sides and is just 7.8 mm thick. The volume rockers and the power button are present on the right side, while the hybrid SIM slot is present on the left side. This lets you use two nano SIM cards or a nano SIM and a micro SD card. It comes with 4G LTE connectivity with support for 4G bands for India. The phone looks premium and has solid build quality. Even though it has a metal frame, it weighs just 132 grams.

Even the back has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, but it attracts fingerprints easily and is reflective. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF). It has a 2500mAh built-in battery. We will bring you the benchmarks, camera samples and more soon.
