Lenovo on Wednesday launched its affordable smartphone in the Vibe series dubbed the Lenovo Vibe P1m, alongside the mid-range Vibe P1. Priced at Rs. 7,999, the Vibe P1m boasts of a massive 4000mAh battery with support for OTG charging – a feature that lets you use your P1m to charge other devices, and also the quick charging.

The design of Vibe P1m is very basic, but the highlight of it is the 4000mAh battery in a very compact form factor of 141 x 71.8 x 9.3mm and it only weighs 148 grams. Apart from the metal band running around the phone, rest of the body is made of plastic. We found the front to be quite glossy, but the back boasts of matte finish, and the phone doesn’t feel cheap in hands.

Upfront, the Vibe P1m features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Though the display brightness and viewing angles appear decent, it is that the glossy coating on top which makes it little reflective and prone to fingerprints/ smudges. The three capacitive touch buttons sit on the bezel below the display.

The Vibe P1m is powered by a 1.0GHz 64-bit quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It runs the heavily tweaked Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with company’s Vibe UI skinned on top. The 16GB of internal storage is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

The Vibe P1m packs an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. We couldn’t really test the camera in that little time with the device, but we will surely be back with the verdict soon in our full review.

Talking a little bit more about the hardware of Vibe P1m, Lenovo has included a physical toggle switch on the left edge, which essentially puts the device in a power saving mode with access to very limited features like the call, messages, dialer, clock etc.

On the right are the volume rocker and power keys. The micro USB port and the 3.5mm audio jack sit on the top edge. The two speaker grills are present at the bottom edge.

The Lenovo Vibe P1m supports dual Micro-SIM cards with 4G LTE on SIM 1 and 2G on SIM 2. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS.

The Vibe P1m comes in Onyx Black and Pearl White colour options. It will go on sale from October 28th on Flipkart.
