OnePlus, Micromax end legal disputes; OnePlus One will continue to receive Cyanogen OS OTA updates in India

OnePlus One-11

Cyanogen announced an exclusive partnership in India with Micromax back in December last year. At that time the company said that Cyanogen OS will not support any other devices shipping in India with future updates including Lollipop. OnePlus just announced that it has end all legal proceedings with Micromax and Cyanogen and the cases have been withdrawn through mutual consent.

After the legal proceedings are over, OnePlus One will continue to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with our users in markets around the world, said the company. This news comes soon after a report that Cyanogen will end their partnership with OnePlus.

Regarding the legal settlement, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager – India, OnePlus said:

OnePlus remains vindicated of the recent trials and tribulations that has surrounded the company due to legal tussle with Micromax over exclusivity on CyanogenOS. We are happy to confirm that all ‘OnePlus One’ users in India will continue to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with our users in markets around of the world.
