vivo India has launched vivo V80, the newest entry in its upper-midrange V-Series lineup, as it had announced. Positioned primarily toward mobile content creators, the smartphone emphasizes ZEISS-branded camera hardware, specialized video modes, and extensive AI post-processing tools. It also introduces notable battery and durability upgrades for the series.
Imaging System and AI Features
The V80’s camera setup is co-engineered with ZEISS:
- Telephoto Capabilities: The rear system includes a 50 MP ZEISS Night Telephoto Camera powered by a Sony IMX882 sensor, optical image stabilization (OIS), 3x optical zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom. It supports up to a 10x zoom-in portrait mode.
- Multifocal Portrait: The camera offers five dedicated portrait focal lengths—23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm—integrated with ZEISS bokeh simulations.
- Selfie Camera: On the front is a 50 MP ZEISS Group Selfie Camera equipped with autofocus, a 92° field of view, and facial-contouring algorithms.
- Video Capture: The device records 4K video at up to 60fps and incorporates three cinematic color profiles: Modern Movie, Vibrant, and Pastel.
Complementing the hardware is a suite of software tools, including an AI Creative Camera with over 30 preset visual styles, AI Diwali Portrait 2.0 for festive-themed shots, and AI Retouch for background expansion, object erasure, and repositioning.
Hardware and Display
Under the hood, the vivo V80 is powered by Qualcomm’s 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform. Power is supplied by a 7,200 mAh battery, the largest to date in the V-Series, supported by 90W wired FlashCharge.
On the front, the phone features a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, and slim 0.125 cm bezels.
The chassis utilizes a cold-carved glass rear finish and a high-strength aluminum alloy frame. The device measures 0.76 cm in thickness, weighs 203 grams, and carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Software
The vivo V80 is the first V-Series device to ship with OriginOS 7 out of the box. Key software additions include the Origin Smooth Engine for performance optimization, Snap Note for converting photographed text into editable notes, and vivo Office Kit for multi-device workflows. vivo commits to six years of security updates for the device.
