JioHotstar has officially commenced its international expansion, rolling out services across the United Kingdom, Canada, and Singapore. The launch brings over 160,000 hours of programming spanning 12 languages to these regions, targeting both the South Asian diaspora and international viewers of South Asian content. The platform plans to introduce more than 30,000 hours of fresh programming annually.
Content Slate and Regional Programming
The international catalogue covers feature films, original series, reality formats, television network content, and regional programming. Key offerings include:
- Originals and Film Premieres: A lineup of new titles such as Ali Baba Aur Chaalis Bhoot, Prince of Mollywood, Part Timers, and The Court, alongside major movie releases including Dhurandhar, Kill, 12th Fail, and Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh.
- Interactive Reality Television: The reality franchise Bigg Boss will feature live audience voting across its regional editions for viewers in all three markets. A 24×7 live feed is available in the UK and Canada, with Canadian viewers receiving access to Bigg Boss Hindi seven days ahead of its linear broadcast.
- New Formats and Network Broadcasts: Canadian and Singaporean audiences gain access to India Ka Top 1 Percent, a quiz show hosted by Anil Kapoor. Content from JioStar networks—including Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha, and Star Pravah—will offer before-TV access in Singapore and Canada, while streaming simultaneously with linear broadcasts in the UK.
Subscription Pricing and Account Migration
The platform has updated its subscription structure to include quarterly options alongside existing annual tiers. Existing Hotstar subscribers in the launch territories can transition to the new service using their current login credentials without service interruption.
In the UK, existing monthly subscriptions remain valid as long as auto-renewal remains active. Android users can also subscribe directly within the application.

Commenting on JioHotstar’s international expansion and vision for global streaming, Amit Malhotra, Head – International Business, JioStar, said:
Streaming has spent the last decade competing on the size of its catalogue. We believe the bigger opportunity now is to reimagine how audiences experience entertainment; not just what they watch, but how they discover, engage with and shape the experience in real time. South Asian audiences have a deep connection with Indian entertainment across languages, generations and households. At the same time, audiences globally are increasingly seeking stories and cultures beyond their own. We see an opportunity to build for this broader, underserved global audience – not simply export an Indian streaming service to new markets.
