WhatsApp has announced Meta Business Agent at its third annual Business Summit in Mumbai. The AI-based solution is designed to help businesses manage customer interactions, automate responses, and handle operational tasks around the clock.
Meta Business Agent can manage customer interactions from the first conversation, including answering business-specific questions, recommending products from a business catalogue, booking appointments, qualifying incoming leads, and helping close sales. Businesses can also decide when a team member should step in to provide additional support.
The AI agent can provide insights from customer conversations and summaries of missed interactions, helping businesses track conversations and follow up on pending requests.
Meta Business Agent Platform for large enterprises
WhatsApp has also launched the Meta Business Agent Platform for large enterprises that require infrastructure to build, customise, and deploy Meta Business Agents at scale.
The platform enables enterprises to create and customise AI agents while integrating them with existing business systems, including Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee. It works alongside the WhatsApp Business Platform and provides tools for scalability, controls, and performance measurement.
WhatsApp said businesses including Swiggy, Madhulika Enterprises, and Kaizen Adventours are early adopters of the Meta Business Agent Platform and are using AI agents for customer interactions.
WhatsApp adds business discovery features
WhatsApp is also making it easier for users to discover businesses using Meta Business Agent. The company said users will soon be able to search for businesses by name directly within WhatsApp Search and share business contacts with friends and family.
