POVA has officially launched POVA 8 5G smartphone in India as the successor to last year’s POVA 7 5G. The new device introduces updated hardware, a specialized multi-chip configuration, and an array of integrated AI features.
Design and Display Features
The POVA 8 5G retains the series’ signature sci-fi-inspired design language, incorporating sharp geometric elements and a semi-transparent rear panel.
A central aspect of the phone’s exterior design is the new Alive Matrix Display, a customizable light panel located on the back of the device. This panel supports up to 49 distinct animations that trigger during specific events, including:
- Incoming calls and notifications
- Charging status
- Active gaming sessions
Users can also personalize these lighting effects to suit their preferences. On the front, the smartphone features a display with a 144Hz refresh rate and TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification. Additionally, the company states that the device is built with military-grade durability.
Camera System
Positioned alongside the rear LED matrix is the primary camera setup. The device utilizes a 50MP main rear sensor based on Sony’s LYTIA 600 (LYT-600) hardware, which is designed to improve light capture for higher-detail photography. The main camera also supports a 2x lossless zoom function. For front-facing photography and video calls, the phone is equipped with a 13MP selfie camera.
Hardware, Connectivity, and Battery Life
The POVA 8 5G operates on a triple-chipset architecture. Processing is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 SoC, which works in tandem with two proprietary, in-house chips:
- G1 Signal Enhancement Chip: Deployed to maintain cellular connectivity in weak-signal environments like elevators and basements.
- SE1 Wi-Fi Enhancement Chip: Engineered to boost Wi-Fi reception and stability.
It has a 15,000mm² graphite sheet to manage the heat. Battery capacity is a core focus of the device, featuring a massive 8000mAh battery that TECNO claims can provide up to two days of usage. According to official performance metrics, a full charge can sustain:

- 14+ hours of continuous gameplay in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB)
AI Integration and Software Support
The company has equipped the POVA 8 5G with several practical AI-driven utilities aimed at productivity and media consumption:
- AI YouTube Summary: Automatically condenses long videos into concise text notes complete with key points and timestamps.
- AI Noise Cancellation: Filters background noise to isolate the user’s voice during phone calls, audio recordings, and virtual meetings.
- AI LightMaster 2.0: A photographic tool designed to automatically remove reflections, lens flares, and shadows from captured images.
- Social Media Features: The software natively supports uploading Live Photos directly to Instagram in the Boomerang format.
- AI Health (Select Markets): Uses facial scanning technology to estimate health metrics, including heart rate, blood oxygen levels (), and respiration rates.
- Software Commitment: The company guarantees two major Android OS upgrades and three years of security updates for the device.
Furthermore, the company is bundling three years of free 256GB cloud storage for buyers. In eligible regions, users will also receive a 3-month trial of Google AI Plus, which grants access to 2TB of cloud storage.

The POVA 8 5G comes in 16-Bit White and Terminal Green colors and is priced at Rs. 29,999 for the 6GB + 128GB model and the 8GB + 128GB model costs Rs. 31,999. It will be available from Flipkart and at leading retail stores across India starting from June 18th.
