HUAWEI has introduced the WATCH Buds 2, a hybrid wearable that integrates a smartwatch and true wireless earbuds into a single device, combining wrist-based functionality with built-in audio.
Design, Build and Fit
The WATCH Buds 2 features a dual-wing design with defined edges and a crown guard for protection. The case uses aerospace-grade titanium alloy with an ultra-hard nano coating, offering up to 200% improved abrasion resistance, while the rear uses a fiber-reinforced composite material.
It weighs approximately 54.5 g (excluding strap) and measures 14.69 mm in thickness. The device is available in Obsidian Black, Titanium Silver, and Amber Brown, with composite vegan leather and titanium strap options using a quick-release design.
The earbuds are stored inside the watch under a hinged cover and align magnetically for secure placement and removal. Due to the hinged structure, the earbud compartment should be kept dry.
Display
The smartwatch features a 1.5-inch flexible LTPO AMOLED display with reduced bezels, lowering black borders by 36% and increasing the screen-to-body ratio by 11.6%. It offers a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels at 310 PPI, with peak brightness up to 3000 nits for outdoor visibility.
Earbuds and Audio
Each earbud weighs about 4 g and uses an octagonal structure with a star-ring design. The system supports automatic left and right ear recognition, allowing use without manual distinction.
Audio is delivered through a full-band micro-flat driver, with real-time adjustment based on ear canal structure, wearing condition, and volume level using multiple optimization algorithms.

The WATCH Buds 2 includes sensors such as a 6-axis inertial unit, optical heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, Hall sensor, capacitive sensor, and bone conduction sensor.
It supports monitoring of heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, breathing rate, and heart rate variability (HRV). Additional functions include:
- Atrial fibrillation and irregular heartbeat alerts
- Sleep apnea risk screening
- Emotion tracking with 12 expression types
- High blood sugar risk assessment (non-direct, study-based)
Sleep tracking evaluates duration and physiological indicators, with improvement suggestions.
The device supports over 90 sports modes, including running, walking, cycling, and strength training, with AI-based analysis for performance guidance.
Smart Features and Connectivity
The WATCH Buds 2 supports Bluetooth 5.2 (BR + BLE), NFC, and positioning systems including Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. It is compatible with Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS devices.
Features include digital car key functionality (unlock, lock, trunk access, car search), Alipay tap-to-pay, and third-party app support such as navigation and fitness services. It also supports access cards, transport cards, calendar, and alarms.
Hardware and Protection
The watch does not include a speaker or microphone, with audio handled by the earbuds. It includes a standard crown without rotating interaction and a dedicated opening button for the earbud compartment. The earbuds are rated IP54, with limited protection due to the hinged case design.
Battery and Charging
The device offers up to 3 days of battery life. The earbuds charge inside the watch through an integrated charging system. Playback time is up to 4 hours with noise cancellation off and up to 3 hours with it enabled. The watch supports wireless charging.
