Nothing Phone (4a) with 6.78″ 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, 5400mAh battery launched in India starting at Rs. 31,999

Nothing just launched the most expected Nothing Phone (4a), the company’s latest smartphone and the successor to last year’s Phone (3a), as it had promised.

Display and Software

The phone features a bigger 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED screen with up to 4500 nits of peak brightness and is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM. It has improved VC cooling, said the company.

The phone runs Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1. The company has promised 3 Android OS updates and 6 years of security patches, same as older models. The phone retains the Essential Key which has been moved to the left side, and there is Essential Space.

Glyph

The phone still has Glyph lights, but these are now present as a single Glyph Bar that is a rectangle of 63 mini-LEDs in 7 squares, up to 40% brighter than previous versions, reaching up to 3,500 nits. Nothing promises zero light leakage and no yellow fringing across all three brightness levels.

Camera and Build

The phone retains the 50MP main camera with a Samsung GN9 sensor, OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera; and a 32MP front camera but gets a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera compared to 2x in the predecessor, and there is also OIS for it.

The phone still has a transparent design, but the camera bar now has a pill-shaped aluminium design, and the back uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Nothing says that the Phone (4a) has bend resistance by 34% compared to Phone (3a). It features IP64 ratings for dust and splash resistance.

Battery

The Indian version of the phone packs a 5,400mAh battery compared to 5000mAh in the predecessor, and the global version has a 5080mAh battery. It retains support for 50W PD charging, which can charge up to 50% in 22 minutes and 100% in 56 minutes. It doesn’t have wireless charging capabilities.

The phone can maintain over 90% of its maximum capacity after 1,200 charging cycles, corresponding to over 3 years and 4 months of daily charging, says the company.
