London-based Nothing launched the most expected Nothing Phone (3) last week. It has the same transparent design, but the Glyph LEDs are replaced by a Glyph Matrix. It comes with upgraded specifications, and the price has also increased a lot compared to the predecessor. Here we have the unboxing and first impressions of the phone.

The Nothing phone (3) has a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 30-120Hz refresh rate compared to 1-120Hz LTPO panel in the predecessor Since the screen has up to 1600 nits HBM brightness, up to 4500 nits peak brightness, it is bright even in outdoors and when viewing HDR content. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC with 12GB / 16GB LPDDR5X of RAM and 256GB / 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. The phone has support for several 5G bands. The phone runs Android 15 with Nothing OS 3.5 on top that brings several customizations.
The company has promised 5 Android OS updates and 7 years of security updates for the phone, for the first time.
Inside the tiny punch-hole there is a 50-megapixel camera with Sony 1/2.76″ sensor and f/2.2 aperture, an upgrade from 32MP camera in the Phone (2). The earpiece grill is on the top edge, which doubles as up as a secondary speaker.
It has an in-display optical fingerprint scanner, which is quick to unlock the phone, immediately after you keep the finger in the area. There is a small chin below the display. Since the phone uses a flexible OLED panel, the company has managed to make the bezels uniform.
Coming to the button placements, the power button is present on the right side, and the Essential key is present below it. The volume rockers are on the left side. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top, along with the speaker vent. Since the sides have an aluminium finish, it doesn’t attract fingerprints.
It has Corning Gorilla Glass Vicus protection on the glass back. It weighs 218g. Compared to IP54 ratings in the Phone (2), this has IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance for the first time. The Glyph Matrix has 25 x 25 a custom micro-LED disc. This can show a digital clock, solar clock, stop watch, battery level, compass, and more. There is a button to access it that offers a haptic feedback. The build quality is solid, but the camera placement looks weird.
The phone has triple rear camera with a new 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.3″ OV50H sensor with large f/1.68 aperture, OIS. It retains the 50MP 114° ultra-wide camera with Samsung JN1 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, and there is a new 50MP 1/2.75″ JN5 3x periscope telephoto with f/2.68 aperture, and it supports 10cm macro shots. It supports 4K recording at up to 60 fps from both the front and rear cameras. Check out some camera samples
The phone has a huge 5500mAh silicon-carbon battery in the Indian market, the biggest on a Nothing Phone yet. It has support for 65W fast charging, which can charge up to 100% power in 54 minutes. It also has 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.
