Nexus: Sony Ericsson’s New Custom Android UI

The Custom Android UI which we are going to see in Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is going to be called Nexus. And like other custom UI’s, Sony Ericsson Nexus UI is meant to integrate a number of different services to make it a lot prettier and hence achieving better user-friendly experience.

Sony Ericsson Timescape, the supposedly “Signature” App of Nexus UI, pulls information from your various social networks, like Twitter and Facebook etc, and integrates all of them together in one place. Timescape also organizes this information around timelines which you can break down by service and events etc. Also there’s also an infinite button for infinite discoveries of any contact.

MediaScape, another major app in Nexus UI can be described as the one stop shop for anything multimedia related i.e. Images, Songs, Videos etc. It will browse through your photos, play out your tunes, and play back your videos as well. Also the camera software in the phone comes with facial recognition and tagging.

However I think at some point of time, Sony Ericsson will try to expand the Nexus UI beyond just smartphones and will try to inculcate it into non-smartphones as well. What do you say? Tell us your views below.
