Samsung has dropped the price of the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch in India to Rs. 18,999, as reported by Mahesh Telecom. The Samsung Galaxy Gear was launched in India back in September last year at a price tag of Rs. 22,990, soon after it was announced at the IFA. It has a 1.63 inch (320 x 320 pixels) Super AMOLED display, powered by a 800 MHz processor and packs a 315 mAh battery. It gives quick previews of incoming texts, emails and more once it is connected to a Smartphone.
The Galaxy Gear has a 1.9-megapixel camera with BSI sensor to capture photos and record video at 720p resolution. It features two microphones and a speaker that lets you make hands-free calls and the secondary microphone is useful for noise cancellation. It also has S Voice that lets you create new calendar entries, set alarms, and check the weather using voice commands. It has 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
Samsung brought the Galaxy Gear support to a range of Galaxy Devices recently in the Android 4.3 update. Lots of wearable devices were introduced at the CES 2014 last week, but Samsung didn’t announce the Galaxy Gear successor. The company might announce the Galaxy Gear 2 at the MWC next month, which might be the reason for this price cut.
Even though online retailers are yet to drop the price of the Smartwatch, Samsung is selling the Galaxy Gear through their official Samsung India eStore for Rs. 19,075.
