Anduril and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., have announced BlueChip, a new product line focused on rebuilding computer manufacturing in the United States. The initiative will begin with a laptop designed and assembled in the US, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series platform.
Anduril has developed functional prototypes of the first BlueChip laptop and plans to begin taking orders in 2027. The initiative will target government, defense, first responders, public safety, and other critical industries.
Anduril BlueChip laptop development
San Diego-based Qualcomm Technologies will supply the Snapdragon X Series platform, providing the laptop’s core computing capabilities, including general-purpose processing, graphics, and on-device AI. Qualcomm Technologies brings expertise in high-performance, power-efficient computing, while Anduril is developing the laptop and its manufacturing processes.
The engineering work includes:
- Enclosure: Designing the enclosure for machining in the US.
- Battery and power management: Developing systems that accommodate existing American battery technology.
- Metals: Selecting materials that US manufacturers can produce and machine at scale.
- Display glass: Developing a bonding process to incorporate US-made display glass.
These requirements address the materials and manufacturing processes needed to build computers using available domestic supply chains.
US manufacturing and supply chain
The US pioneered personal computing and continues to lead in advanced technology design, but decades of offshoring have left it dependent on foreign manufacturers for computers and components used in personal devices and critical government infrastructure. Anduril and Qualcomm identify this dependence as a national security concern, as international conflicts or overseas supply chain disruptions could restrict access to essential computing hardware and affect the country’s ability to sustain production.
According to Anduril, components sourced from US and allied-country suppliers account for more than 90% of the BlueChip prototypes’ component procurement cost. The company is working to expand domestic component production ahead of planned availability in 2027, with the long-term goal of establishing a fully domestic supply chain.

BlueChip laptops will be manufactured in the US, with circuit board assembly planned at Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio. Anduril is also developing domestic production capabilities for enclosures, battery components, and other hardware while qualifying suppliers and preparing for production.
The US has invested billions of dollars in expanding domestic semiconductor production, but manufacturing complete computers also requires circuit boards, displays, batteries, and other components that are still largely produced overseas. Rebuilding computer manufacturing therefore requires expanding the broader industrial base beyond semiconductor fabrication.
BlueChip will follow a phased approach:
- Expand domestic sourcing and manufacturing.
- Progress toward eliminating reliance on foreign suppliers.
- Establish an end-to-end American supply chain.
The designs, supplier relationships, and production processes developed for the first laptop are expected to support additional BlueChip products.
