vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max go global

vivo has announced the global release of its latest flagship lineup, the X500 series starting from Malaysia and select European markets. The collection includes three distinct smartphones: the premium X500 Pro Max, the mid-tier X500 Pro, and the standard X500. Across the lineup, the devices focus on mobile imaging hardware co-engineered with ZEISS, high-capacity semi-solid-state batteries, and an updated software platform running OriginOS 7.

Camera Systems and Hardware Specifications

The series places significant emphasis on telephoto and video capabilities, integrating optical hardware and dedicated tracking engines across all three tiers.

X500 Pro Max

The top-tier X500 Pro Max centers on a 200 MP ZEISS APO telephoto camera with an 85 mm equivalent focal length, built around a 1/1.4-inch HP0 sensor. It integrates CIPA 7.0 stabilization alongside a 3° gimbal-grade optical image stabilization (OIS) system for low-light exposures and handheld stability. The model also supports an optional 400 mm Equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra across ten shooting modes.

X500 Pro

The X500 Pro utilizes an 85 mm equivalent ZEISS APO telephoto lens paired with a 64 MP Sony LYTIA 610 sensor. It includes ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating to minimize chromatic aberration and is compatible with an external 200 mm Equivalent Telephoto Extender Gen 2.

X500

The standard X500 model includes a 72 mm equivalent ZEISS APO telephoto lens alongside a 50 MP 1/1.28-inch main sensor. It incorporates software features such as Cinematic Portrait lighting presets and a custom color palette for adjusting tone, glow, and grain.

Video and Motion Tracking

Both the Pro and Pro Max configurations employ Vivo’s X-Track Engine, which supports lock-on autofocus tracking for fast-moving subjects. In photo mode, the Pro Max reaches autofocus tracking speeds of up to 60 fps, complemented by a 30x Long-Range Motion Snapshot function (20x on the Pro model).

Video capture features across the series include:

  • Cinematic Pro Log Video: Tuned to the main sensor’s 17 EV dynamic range for highlight and shadow retention in post-production.
  • High-Speed Recording: Native 4K capture at up to 240 fps, as well as multi-focal 4K 120 fps modes.
  • Cinematic Modes: A 4K Cinematic Portrait Video profile with dedicated color science, a 2.4:1 aspect ratio film format with simulated grain and halation, and Stage Mode 3.0 for multi-angle event recording.
Processing, Power, and Battery Architecture

Under the hood, the X500 Pro Max and X500 Pro are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro platform, fabricated on a 2 nm process with a 2+3+3 core layout. The base X500 utilizes the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M.

All three handsets incorporate Vivo’s BlueVolt battery technology, utilizing second-generation semi-solid-state cells rated for operational stability down to -20°C:

  • X500 Pro Max: 7,800 mAh (6,750 mAh in Europe)
  • X500 Pro: 6,510 mAh
  • X500: 7,500 mAh

Charging profiles remain uniform across the line, offering 90W wired FlashCharge, 40W wireless FlashCharge, and bypass charging support to manage thermals under heavy load.

Operating System and Connectivity

The lineup ships with OriginOS 7, which introduces multi-window productivity through Origin Workbench and updated animation scaling via the Origin Smooth Engine.

A notable operational change is expanded cross-platform interoperability. OriginOS 7 integrates direct file exchanges compatible with Apple ecosystems, including support for AirDrop-compatible protocols via Quick Share, direct management for connected peripherals like Apple Watch and AirPods, and desktop integration via the vivo Office Kit for Mac computers. AI utilities include screen-reading task tools, transcript generators, and automated meeting summarizers.

Design and Display

The series provides three screen sizes, all reaching up to 2,000 nits global peak brightness with 100% P3 color coverage:

  • X500 Pro Max: 6.85-inch flat 2K ZEISS Master Color display with the “Tideline” module slope. Available in Moonlit Black, Sunny White, Starry Gray, and Sunset Orange.
  • X500 Pro: 6.36-inch display with identical Tideline styling and color options.
  • X500: 6.59-inch display housing a squared floating camera module. Available in Dusk Black, Sunny White, Starry Gray, and Dawn Pink.

Standard utility features across the lineup include dual IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors, USB 3.2 data transfer ports, and integrated infrared blasters.
