Samsung Electronics has announced an update to the Samsung Health app, with changes to its sleep management and running features.
Sleep Coaching requires less data to start
Samsung has reduced the data requirement for Sleep Coaching from seven days within a month to three days of sleep data tracked within a seven-to-14-day period. During setup, users complete a survey covering sleep regularity, nighttime interruptions, alcohol and caffeine intake, and subjective sleep satisfaction.

Samsung Health uses these responses and the available sleep data to assign a personalized Sleep Animal symbol and create a four- to eight-week coaching program based on individual goals.
The program adapts its weekly recommendations to changes in sleep patterns and lifestyle habits, while tracking daily sleep satisfaction. Based on behavioral sleep science, it provides daily checklists and tips covering habits such as:

- Avoiding screens an hour before bedtime
- Skipping late caffeine
- Stretching outdoors after waking up
Samsung Health also adds a pentagon-shaped Sleep Balance graph that combines five indicators to show sleep trends and areas that may need attention:
- Sleep time
- Sleep regularity
- Awake time during the night
- Sleep satisfaction
- Energy Score
The graph uses data collected or entered through Sleep Coaching. To check the Energy Score, users must synchronize health data tracked by a Samsung Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring with Samsung Health. The result is for personal reference only and is not intended for medical purposes.
Morning insight messages review the previous night’s sleep and provide tips. These messages are integrated with weekly and final reports to help users follow their sleep trends throughout the coaching program.
Running Coach adds two training levels and Strava Routes
Samsung has expanded Running Coach from 10 to 12 training levels, adding options for intermediate and advanced runners. Training plans continue to be based on a 12-minute running test or historical running data. The update also adds social media sharing templates that let users export workout data and share running milestones, personal records, and route highlights.

Through its partnership with Strava, Samsung is integrating Strava Routes into Samsung Health. Users can import routes directly into the app for running, trail running, and cycling. Strava is available worldwide, excluding Belarus, China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, parts of Ukraine, and South Korea.

The updated features will roll out progressively through Samsung Health app updates starting in October. Availability and timing may vary by market and device model, and some features may require future software updates.
