vivo has officially announced the global launch of the vivo X Fold6, its latest flagship foldable smartphone after the China launch back in June. Aimed at mobile professionals, the new device integrates expanded productivity software, a high-capacity battery system, upgraded imaging hardware developed with ZEISS, and a slimmed-down chassis.
Multitasking Software and AI Features
The X Fold6 launches with OriginOS 7 Fold, supported by the Origin Smooth Engine for sustained multitasking performance. Central to the software experience is the Multi-Task Workbench, which includes:
- Origin Workbench: A workspace configuration featuring one primary window alongside four auxiliary windows to keep core tasks centered while monitoring secondary activities.
- Multi-Split Screen: Supports up to four freely resizable side-by-side windows.
- AI Cross-App Drag: Allows direct dragging and dropping of content between active applications.
The operating system also incorporates several built-in AI productivity utilities. AI Meeting Assistant provides in-person transcription and structured summaries via AI Recorder, alongside real-time subtitles through AI Captions. AI File Manager handles scattered content with automated naming, summaries, topic categorization, and a column-based view. Reading workflows are supplemented by AI Reader Mode, which reformats PDFs into an eBook format.
For external displays, vivo Office Kit enables a Desktop Mode when hooked up to a compatible monitor or television. The device also integrates Jovi, an AI agent capable of scheduling tasks and running cross-device workflows across smartphones and PCs via voice commands. System protection is handled by vivo’s Security Shield, which monitors app permissions, network security, and potential installation risks.
Hardware, Battery, and Form Factor
The X Fold6 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition platform, customized in partnership with vivo alongside an Ultra-Efficient Concurrent Engine to manage power and graphical loads.
The phone is powered by a 6,900 mAh BlueVolt Battery utilizing fifth-generation silicon anode technology to fit the large capacity into a narrow frame. The power cell also incorporates third-generation semi-solid-state battery technology, designed to sustain discharge efficiency in temperatures down to –20°C. Charging options include 80W wired FlashCharge, 40W wireless FlashCharge, and wireless reverse charging.

The physical construction features an Ultra-Reliable Lightweight Hinge, 2.5D flat metal framing, and vivo’s Minimal Ring camera module. The phone is offered in two variants:
- Prism Black: 4.4 mm thick unfolded, weighing 228 grams.
- Horizon Blue: 4.8 mm thick unfolded, weighing 235 grams.
The device carries IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance ratings alongside an IP5X dust resistance rating. Network performance is managed by a 1+4 Communication Chipset, supported by an integrated Data Store feature that allows users to purchase local cellular data plans across 129 countries and regions directly from the device.
Dual Displays and Camera System
Visuals are delivered via the ZEISS Master Color Display setup on both panels:
- Inner Display: An 8.02-inch panel using Samsung M14 luminescent material.
- Cover Display: A 6.51-inch panel using BOE Q11 luminescent material.
Both screens feature 8T-LTPO backplanes supporting a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, a minimum brightness level of 1 nit, and a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits.
For photography and videography, the device uses the vivo ZEISS Co-engineered Imaging System powered by the dedicated vivo Imaging Chip V3+:
- Main Camera: A 200 MP sensor (Samsung HPB Large Sensor) featuring ZEISS T* coating and optical image stabilization (OIS).
- Telephoto Camera: A ZEISS APO telephoto unit utilizing a Sony LYTIA 602 sensor with vivo’s VCS technology, a 3x periscope design, telephoto macro capabilities, and up to 100x ZEISS HyperZoom.

Software features for the camera array include Motion Portrait 2.0 for subject tracking, Stage Mode with an AI True Clarity Engine supporting 4K 60 fps Dolby Vision video, Night Flash Portrait, and dedicated multi-focal length portrait capture.
The folding form factor also supports Split-Screen Preview, an external teleprompter display, an interactive cover screen for children and pets, and a Left-Screen Preview mode that places previous captures alongside the live viewfinder.
