OPPO has started rolling out the latest ColorOS 16 update. The September update adds new options for managing photos and also brings improvements to Private Safe and photo selection.
Photos improvements
ColorOS 16 lets users edit the date and time of photos directly from Photos. Users can correct an incorrect timestamp or organise older memories by changing the capture date and time.
In addition, users can hide selected customised albums from the main Photos view. The update also lets users select multiple photos and add them to favourites at the same time.
Photos and Albums now support Immersive and By Date views. Users can browse their memories visually with Immersive view or find a specific moment based on its date with By Date.
Scan Text
ColorOS 16 also adds the Scan Text feature, which extracts text directly from a photo. Users can then copy, edit or share the extracted content. For documents, Scan Text provides the following tools:
- Rotate
- Straighten
- Remove glare
- Remove shadows
Private Safe and photo selection improvements
The September update also improves the process of adding files to Private Safe. Users can select multiple files in different formats from the home page, after which the files are automatically stored by file type.
To use this option, go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Private Safe, then tap the Add icon in the bottom-right corner.
Meanwhile, the update optimizes photo browsing to reduce accidental selections during scrolling and improve selection accuracy.
Rollout and availability
The ColorOS 16 update is rolling out in phases from September 1 and will conclude by September 30. The update is available for the following devices:
