Google wraps up Build with AI: Code for Communities in India with 12 AI projects set for constituency pilots


Google has concluded the Parliamentary Showcase for Build with AI: Code for Communities, a nationwide initiative focused on connecting AI innovation with local governance.

Organized in collaboration with The Dialogue, the finale was held on July 22 in New Delhi, where 12 winning developer teams demonstrated live AI applications directly to Members of Parliament (MPs). As the program enters its next phase, the selected winning solutions will move to pilot deployments in real-world parliamentary constituencies.

The initiative brought together more than 7,000 developers across 18+ Indian cities, resulting in over 1,000 open-source projects built on Google’s AI stack, including Gemini and Gemma. The problem statements were sourced directly from sitting MPs and covered four key areas: civic governance, environment, public health and agriculture.

AI solutions across four focus areas

The winning projects addressed the following areas:

  • Civic and Governance: Multilingual AI platforms that aggregate citizen feedback to help optimize local development budgets.
  • Environment: Real-time pollution tracking systems that combine satellite, sensor and citizen data to identify local pollution hotspots.
  • Public Health: AI command centers for rural health clinics that predict medicine stock-outs and track healthcare resources.
  • Agriculture: Indic-language voice and SMS tools that provide smallholder farmers with satellite-backed crop advice.
Winning teams across four tracks

Google recognized the top three teams in each of the four challenge tracks during the Parliamentary Showcase.

People’s Priorities

  • Winner: Tech Jays – Praja Svaram, a multilingual, voice-first platform that enables citizens to submit grievances through WhatsApp or phone calls, with AI-powered classification, verification and an analytics dashboard for MPs.
  • Runner-up: Civic Pulse – An AI platform that accepts text, voice and photo submissions in Indian languages, classifies issues and identifies demand hotspots across constituencies.
  • 2nd Runner-up: Nexons – AreaPulse, an AI civic platform featuring AR and WhatsApp reporting, AI-based spam and duplicate filtering, government SLA dashboards and predictive weather risk modelling.

CleanAir & Clear Streets

  • Winner: Code_smashers – A real-time pollution hotspot platform for Delhi NCR that combines CPCB sensor data, satellite fire detections and Gemini-powered image analysis every three hours.
  • Runner-up: We Build – A pollution monitoring platform that validates citizen reports using AI, Speech-to-Text and Cloud Translation across 13 languages.
  • 2nd Runner-up: GLM Harmonizers – CleaniSense, a civic platform offering AI image validation, automated department routing, municipal dashboards and citizen updates.

Smart Health

  • Winner: Noida Boys – HealthGrid AI, a district health command center that monitors medicine stocks, patient footfall, bed availability, doctor attendance and test availability across PHCs and CHCs.
  • Runner-up: GHC – Government Health Connect, an AI-powered platform that unifies patient admissions, bed tracking, doctor attendance and medicine inventory.
  • 2nd Runner-up: ai-rangers – Smart Health, a district command center and multilingual reporting app for rural health centres to help monitor medicine availability and daily operations.

Kisan Alert

  • Winner: Vishwakarma Devs – KisanVaani, an AI-powered farming service that delivers crop advice, alerts and health logging through toll-free voice calls and SMS.
  • Runner-up: Rocket – Bhumija, a GPS-based platform that provides field-level insights on weather, soil moisture, rainfall history and crop suitability.
  • 2nd Runner-up: Sarkitects – Krishi Kalyan, a multilingual AI agricultural assistant that offers crop recommendations, fertilizer suggestions, irrigation advice, weather alerts and pest and disease diagnosis through Telegram, with support planned for WhatsApp, SMS and voice.
Pilot deployments in parliamentary constituencies

Google said the winning solutions will receive support for pilot deployments in actual parliamentary constituencies, providing a repeatable approach for using its AI stack to support welfare and community development initiatives.

Speaking on the initiative, a Google India spokesperson said,

Whether it’s managing smart health centers, predicting crop yields, or tracking local pollution, India is showing the world what AI looks like at population scale. Because the benefits of AI won’t automatically reach everyone, we remain deeply committed to building a responsible foundation and providing the training our youth and developers need so that the benefits of AI serve the many, not just the few.
