POCO X8 Pro Max Unboxing and First Impressions


POCO today launched the X8  Pro Max, the company’s latest smartphone in the X8 series, in India and global markets. This has several improvements, including an improved 1.5K OLED screen, India’s first Dimensity 9500s SoC, a whopping 9000mAh battery, and more. Here we have the first impressions of the phone.

The phone has a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED screen. It has HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision. It has up to 3500 nits brightness, so the sunlight legibility is good even in bright outdoors. There is 3840 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

The tiny punch-hole houses a 20MP camera. On the top edge there is a loudspeaker grill that also doubles up as a speaker. It has an ultra-narrow bottom bezel. It is also the first phone in the POCO X series to get a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, so it can unlock even with wet or oily fingers.

It is India’s first phone to be powered by Dimensity 9500s 3nm SoC with support for a 5800 mm² 3D IceLoop VC cooling system. It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0 out of the box. The company has promised 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates for the phone.

Coming to the button placements, the volume rockers and the power button are present on the right side of the phone. The dual SIM slot, loudspeaker grill, primary microphone, and USB Type-C port are present on the bottom. It doesn’t have a microSD expansion slot. On the top there is a vent for the speaker, a secondary microphone, and an infrared sensor.

The POCO X8 Pro Max features the 50MP rear camera with Light Fusion 600 and OIS. There is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It supports up to 4K 60fps video recording on the back and 1080p 60fps video recording on the front. Check out some camera samples.

The phone has a CNC metal frame; a flagship fiberglass back panel that doesn’t attract fingerprints; a metal racetrack-shaped deco design; and a dynamic ring with multicolored LEDs around the cameras. It has IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance ratings.

The POCO X8 Pro Max packs a huge 9000mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging and also supports 27W reverse charging. Even with a huge battery, it weighs 220 grams.

The POCO X8 Pro Max starts at Rs. 42,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model. With all the offers, the phone will be available starting at Rs. 39,999. It will be available from Flipkart starting from March 23rd.
