TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


TECNO launched the POVA Curve 5G, the company’s latest 5G smartphone in the Curve series and the successor to the most popular POVA Curve 5G, in India today. Here we have the unboxing and the first impressions of the smartphone.

The phone has a 6.78-inch (2644 × 1208 pixels) 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is bright since it has up to 4500 nits peak brightness compared to 1300 nits in the predecessor. There is also 2304Hz PWM dimming, and the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

There is a 13MP front camera inside the tiny notch that supports 2K 30 fps video recording. The earpiece present on the top edge doesn’t double up as a secondary speaker. It supports Dolby Atmos audio. There is a small bezel below the screen.

The phone runs Android 16 with HiOS 16 on top with a lot of AI features. Under the hood, the TECNO Curve 2 5G is powered by the latest Dimensity 7100 chipset, making it the first in India with the chip.

There is also G1 signal enhancement chip and SE1 Wi-Fi enhancement chip for better mobile network and Wi-Fi. It has support for 20 5G bands, compared to 10 bands in the predecessor, and has 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB / 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.

Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right along with volume rockers. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top, and the infrared sensor is present on the back, inside the camera deco.

The phone has dual rear cameras that include a 50MP main camera along with a 2MP macro sensor. It supports 2K video recording at 30fps from the rear camera.

It has a ‘Starship Inspired Design’ and the device moves away from traditional camera bumps with a new triangular, asymmetrical camera module that gives it a futuristic look. It offers a smooth finish. The phone also has SGS 5-Star Drop Resistance and comes with IP64 ratings for dust and splash resistance.

The phone packs a massive 8,000mAh battery housed inside a chassis that is only 7.42mm thick and the phone weighs just 195 grams and has a good weight distribution. It also has 45W fast charging.

The TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G starts at Rs. 27,999 and will be available from Flipkart starting and offline retail stores from February 20th.
