Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a specialized smartphone designed exclusively for athletes competing in the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
As a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, Samsung will distribute the custom device to approximately 3,800 athletes from nearly 90 countries. The initiative aims to support competitors throughout their stay in the Olympic Village and enhance their ability to document their experiences.
Design and Hardware Specifications
The Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition features a distinct aesthetic tailored to the 2026 Winter Games. The device incorporates a signature blue back glass, a color chosen to align with the “Italian azure” of the host nation while reflecting Samsung’s brand identity. This is paired with a custom gold metal frame, symbolizing the pursuit of podium success.
The package includes a specialized clear case featuring a blue circular magnet surrounded by a gold laurel leaf motif. On the software side, the device features a custom interface with wallpapers inspired by the visual interaction between skate blades and ice surfaces.
Hardware specifications mirror the standard Galaxy Z Flip7, featuring a compact, foldable design with a new edge-to-edge FlexWindow. The camera system includes a 50MP Wide and a 12MP Ultra-Wide lens.
AI Features and Athlete Tools
The device comes equipped with Galaxy AI features intended to assist athletes with logistics and communication during the Games:
- Interpreter: An on-device tool that provides real-time translation. It operates without a network connection, facilitating communication in diverse environments, including mountainous areas.
- Now Brief: A daily update feature that aggregates reminders, calendar events, and fitness summaries.
- Photo Assist: AI-powered image editing tools that allow for object manipulation and background adjustments.
- Dual Recording: A camera mode exclusive to this edition that utilizes both front and rear cameras simultaneously to capture athlete reactions alongside their surroundings.
Games-Time Integration and Software
The Olympic Edition device will play a central role in the “Victory Selfie” program. Making its Winter Olympics debut at Milano Cortina 2026, the program allows medalists to capture photos directly from the podium. For the first time, this initiative has been expanded to include team sport competitions.
Additionally, Samsung introduced the “Victory Profile,” a project using the Galaxy S25 Ultra to capture portraits of athletes from select National Olympic Committees (NOCs), highlighting their personal stories beyond the field of play.
To support daily logistics within the Olympic Villages, the Z Flip7 comes pre-loaded with a suite of essential services:
- Connectivity: A complimentary 100GB 5G eSIM.
- Galaxy Athlete Card: A digital platform for athletes to exchange profiles and connect with peers.
- Samsung Wallet: Includes digital passes for village amenities, such as the Coca-Cola Free Beverage Key.
- Athlete365: An app integrated with the “Now Brief” feature to provide competition news and mental health support.
Availability
Distribution of the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition is scheduled to begin on January 30. Devices will be available to athletes at Olympic Villages located across six host cities.
Samsung will also operate on-site “Open Stations” to provide technical support, data transfer assistance, and device activation services.
