HONOR has confirmed that the Magic V5 has officially entered the Guinness World Records by lifting the heaviest weight ever recorded for a suspended foldable smartphone. The device successfully lifted 104 kilograms (229.2 lbs), demonstrating notable durability in the foldable smartphone category.
The record was officially recognized on August 1, 2025, in Dubai, UAE, by Emma Brain, Guinness World Records adjudicator. Brain stated:
Congratulations, on behalf of Guinness World Records, it gives me immense pleasure to announce the new record title holder for: The heaviest weight lifted by a suspended foldable smartphone is 104 kgs (229.2 lbs), and was achieved by HONOR International FZCO (UAE), in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on 1 August 2025.
HONOR Super Steel Hinge
This achievement is enabled by the HONOR Super Steel Hinge, designed to withstand up to 500,000 folds while supporting more than 100 kilograms in controlled vertical lifting conditions.
The hinge is made from second-generation HONOR Super Steel with a tensile strength of 2300 MPa, providing high durability in a compact form. This design addresses durability concerns common in foldable smartphones without adding bulk.
Design and Durability
The HONOR Magic V5 has a folded thickness of 8.8mm and a weight of 217g, combining slim form with high structural strength. The device demonstrates that foldable smartphones can achieve both durability and a lightweight design, addressing key consumer concerns about foldable phone reliability.
Global Launch
The HONOR Magic V5 is scheduled for a global launch on August 28, 2025, in London, following its initial release in China last month.
