Meizu has started teasing the upcoming Meizu 22, successor to the Meizu 21 as the world’s narrowest four-sided bezels of just 1.2mm. This will beat the Find X8s, which has 1.25mm bezels on all the sides.
Meizu said that it was a challenge to the R&D team to work towards the 1.2mm narrow bezel with the self-developed LIPO process. It said that many said that it’s too difficult, and we may really not be able to make it.
Regarding the development, Meizu said:
With the advancement of R&D technology, through a more complex 6-layer processing process and at the cost of a higher defective rate, the narrowest white panel process has gradually seen the light. After a series of almost desperate trial production failures, we began to approach that limit – 1.2mm, the world’s narrowest fourth-class white border.
Maybe there will be narrower borders in the future, and maybe white panels will eventually have no place to be written. But even if the elegance is peerless, it should be peerless elegance.
Based on earlier reports, the Meizu 22 will feature over 5500mAh battery, have 71mm body width, and is said to feature a periscope telephoto camera for the first time in a Meizu number series. It should be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
Back in May at the Meizu Note 16 Pro launch event, Meizu revealed that starting from the Meizu 22 series, Meizu will invest in imaging at all costs, with the goal of comprehensively reversing the image reputation from this generation. In addition, the company said that the Meizu 22 series will no longer stick to the traditional standard version and Pro version, and will design a new 22 series universe in different forms.
The Meizu 22 is expected to be introduced sometime in August 2025.
